Christmas, Christmas time is here. Time for joy. Time for cheer. Time for a concert at the Red Bank United Methodist Church. Isn’t that how the song goes? Ok, maybe the Peanuts don’t sing it exactly like that, but they should. On December 7th at 7pm, Christmas at Red Bank kicks off its 3rd year. What is Christmas at Red Bank you ask? Well, I’d describe it as a “Christmas Hootenanny” featuring traditional and original music performed by a few Columbia-area musicians. It’s a free show (donations accepted to benefit Lexington Interfaith Community Services) so there’s no reason you shouldn’t attend. Each artists plays a couple of songs and its a real intimate (read quiet) setting. In an effort to preserve journalistic integrity (whatever that may be…) I must note that I was a participant at last year’s show and will be again this year. Highlights of last year’s show (according to me) included Mac Leaphart’s and Brent Lundy’s performances, both returning this year.
The church is located at 2909 Old Barnwell Road. (Mapquest it) For more information visit the Christmas at Redbank Myspace.
