On December 5th at 7:30, Grayson Venters will be playing at The Watershed. You might know him as the frontman of local band, The Devil and the Lion, rather than a solo act. As I’m writing this I’m listening to his myspace. This isn’t the first time I’ve visited his page to hear his music, and every time I do, I usually end up listening to all of his songs. He is full of fresh talent and still has a whole lot of potential under his skin. There are plenty of acts out there that try too hard, but for Grayson, it seems to come as natural as.. well.. you get what I’m trying to say. I’m excited to get to hear him perform his solo stuff live. If I haven’t convinced you to come out yet, it’s only $5, you can’t go wrong. I really see him going places, whether it be solo or with TD&TL.
Grayson isn’t the only act on friday. Andy Zipf, from Arlington, VA, will also be playing at The Watershed. I hadn’t heard of him before now, but I checked out his music online and liked what I heard. I’m not the only one, he was named writer of the week for this past week at American Songwriter. His music has been heard on the MTV show, ‘Exiled’. I can’t say anything about that though, because I’ve never heard of that show… maybe it’s because I try not to watch MTV. He’s also performed at South by South West, and is working on a DVD. From the likes of it, Andy seems to be doing something right.
Again, guys, it’s five bucks. Go rake some leaves for your neighbor or something. It’s cold so I’m sure if you do that, you’ll have enough money to get some hot coffee there, too.
EDIT: Grayson posted a new song on his myspace on Wednesday! Go check it out! The link to his page is in his name at the beginning of this post.
