In the last week we have already seen 3 bands on the Favorite Gentleman record label and now we have the opportunity to see even more as O’ Brother bring their ambient style of rock to The Watershed. On O’ Brother’s myspace you can hear a cover version of “Wasting All My Breath” by All Get Out. This was recorded in plans to be a split cover EP by the two bands. I’m not sure if the EP got scratched or is just being held off for awhile, but it is definitely worth checking out. Mel and Mike of All Get Out had high words of praise for the band they have played a number of shows with in the past, describing them as epic and one of the next bands with potential to break out. The Devil and The Lion will be representing the local music scene this Saturday at their home venue. Frontman, Grayson Venters, has been featured a couple of times lately with his solo shows, but Saturday night we get to see the full band. TDATL have been playing a good bit of shows with the bands of Favorite Gentleman and their sound fits in well with the overall sound of the label…hopefully their paths cross in the future.
I Married My House School Sweetheart is fronted by Trevor Dowdy and is also from the Atlanta area of Georgia. Also a member of FG label, you can listen to his electronic cover of “Wolves at Night” by Manchester Orchestra. The part I am most looking forward to in this show is that Trevor is bringing a band with him and in that band is Patrick McGraw. Patrick is a good friend and former member of my old band All Good Citizens. He left All Good Citizens to play in Hillside Manor, a great band that lost its feet after frontman Kyle *Patrick* (cough Dickherber cough) left to sing with The Click Five. Yeah, that Click Five. Patrick says that Trevor has a nice set planned with full band, an acoustic song and some electronic loops.
