Jon Stringer likes to do two things; four wheel drive and play country music with his band,Festus and the White Trash Band. When his career at the local textile mill comes to an abrupt and unexpected end, he decides to give music a shot.
The band includes his best friend/bass player Hagan, who makes a living playing online poker, his brother/lead guitar player Robert who owns a small garage,a meth-addicted drummer named Brett, a rhythm guitar player named Brandon who knows one chord, and a harmonica player named Rhett who doesn’t know when to stop.
With a tenacity paralleled only by their lack of talent, Festus and the White Trash Band take their unique sound from the rust and kudzu of South Carolina, all the way to the footlights of Nashville.
Kind of. Well… I have a small part in a movie that is on the festival rounds now. I’ve mentioned it on this website about 10 times before, but the movie is called Solid Country Gold. Maybe my Nick Membership is paying off. I know it at least pays off in Free Chips at El Burrito.
So here is the deal. The movie is playing Saturday April 18th at 4:00 PM at the Indie Grits festival. The movie is basically all of my family and friends so it’s going to be crazy to see this on a big screen. My cousin Ronnie wrote and produced it along with his friend Hayne. I think total I have 15 close relatives in this movie.
The festival received 150 total submissions that had to be narrowed down to 40.
What else is awesome about this you might ask?
Friday night we’re venturing into music once again. Â We’re excited to have Des Ark from Durham, NC headlining that night’s show at CMFA. Â Also performing will be The Heist and the Accomplice, Thank God and The Noise, all of whom have music videos and/or film scores in the festival.
And Check out the Cast of Adios Mr. Falcon.
Looks like the Columbia Music and Film crew have Collided.
