The feeling I will have in my stomach when Hello Tomorrow is setting up their equipment is the same feeling I have when I see a wrestler on the top rope. It’s kinda like when I hear “Vertical Blinding” I start screaming as if Sting is on the top rope smacking the sweat off his chest preparing for the Stinger Splash. The only problem is that in the last year Hello Tomorrow “broke up.” That to me is kind of like when Sting went from Tropical Colors to black. I had the same sad feeling I had in my stomach when I was 13. The best thing that can happen Thursday night is that I reenact everything good from my childhood, jump on stage with Hello Tomorrow and do my best Flyin Brian impression and dive off of the stage into the arms of 500 adoring fans.

The only thing I like better than going to the gas station and buying lottery tickets, an RC Cola and a moon pie is going to see good bands that I haven’t seen before. So Thursday night will be pretty sweet. For the first time I will be experiencing The Artichokes and Sweet Vans live.
You will notice above there is a link to download The Artichokes EP for free. I downloaded it and listened to it and I like it. And I’m always right. The EP is solid through and through, but I’m thinking my favorite songs are “Sweater Weather” and “B&W.” The opening track “Acid” reminds me of a Chocolate Soldier, California, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club and Anxiety. But most of all their music sounds as if it captured in a period in late 1998 when ska was fading out and Cake was in the zone.
Next up in the night are the Founders of Srsly records. Blah Blah Blah Sweet Vans. Here is what you really need to know. Sweet Vans will be debuting a new song called “We Love College.” If you haven’t listened to Sweet Vans they are catchy and Bakari and Will’s tongues are constantly stuck in their cheeks. MTV needs to look in to working with Sweet Vans and maybe placing some of their songs on the College Humor show. I mean “Some hoes call me party Jesus, and the ones that don’t see my dick and then they become believers.” Nice one Bakari.
Headlining the night is the evil genius Chaz Bundick and his electronic dance project Toro Y Moi. You might recognize Chaz from his band The Heist and The Accomplice, but on Thursday night he will have the stage to himself accompanied by a mic and some electronic toys. You’ll notice him running some guitar pedals through his computer and doing some other fancy stuff. That’s just cause he is a bad ass and he is better than you. So musicians bring your notepad and fill it up with all of the things master Chaz has to teach you.
