You know you are desperate when you title a post after a Bryan Adams song.
There is some level of difficulty in writing a music blog in a college town during the summer. While there are some good shows this weekend, many of them are very niche type shows. For that reason, I encourage you to check out the music calendars for New Brookland, The Art Bar, and Headliners because there could be something on there that you are really into.
As for me, I just want to bring Lamb Handler to your attention. SceneSC is all about supporting local bands, and for me that means showing some love to bands coming from out of state. Trust me, they need your affection and they are local to someone. Charlotte’s Lamb Handler is the cool bastard child of rockabilly, country, punk and mid-90’s rock. Their latest release Jingle Jangle is a fun, high spirited affair that starts out in your face and never lets up. If their live shows have a tenth of the energy of their disc then you are in for a treat. They have been touring the southeast consistently and I imagine Columbia, SC could become a nice home away from home for them. Lamb Handler performs Saturday night at David’s favorite venue (Headliners) and the show is only $5.
In other South Carolina music news… anyone? Bueller? How overused is that movie quote?
Lambhandler put on a great show when they played the New Brookland Tavern on June 4th. The Jaded Rakes opened up and brought down the house.
