After releasing one of the best albums to come out of South Carolina this year, The Dirt and The Flood are taking a break. They aren’t ready to call it a break up, but a pause to pursue other opportunities in life. This is still a big break in direction from their previous plans of moving to Nashville and pursuing a career in music.
Here is their blog on Myspace and here is a link to a more in depth series of events from Knox.
So over the past six months we have been gearing up to move to Nashville together. Â Three weeks ago those plans came to a halt. Â The story, for those of you who would like to read it is posted on www.radiusgreenville.org under the stories section and is called “mercy, prayer, and confirmation”.
It is pretty amazing what we have seen the Lord do in the past three years of being a band. Â We have been through the ups of writing and releasing our first album ‘the garden” and many downs, but the Lord has been very faithful to us. Â We all felt like the Lord is moving us elsewhere, at least for the time being, and we have decided to press pause on the dirt and the flood until further notice.
It has been really hard working through this but we all feel like this is where the Lord is moving and are trusting him with this band. Â It has always been about him and it is obvious that the beauty of this band for so many of you has been that the Lord seemed to be in the midst of it. Â So we are going to follow him and hope that if he wants us to continue in the future he will bring us back together again.
We are really excited about the future and look forward seeing what the Lord does!
From all of us, thank you for your support over the past several years. Â We will keep you updated on everything that happens. Â If you want to catch us before the pause begins we will be playing In Greenville with Dignan and Standing Small on July 10th. Â There is hopefully a Columbia show in the works for July 17th or 18th. Â We will also be playing in Charlottesville VA on July 30th and August 1st.
