The Monsters of Folk have announced a 16 date Fall tour taking them all the way from Vancouver, B.C to the Netherlands, but skipping right over the Southern United States. This tour will be in support of their new self titled album which is nearing its release.
The folk super-group is made up of Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, and M. Ward (that guy that was on the album with Zooey Deschanel.)Â M. Ward might have done some other stuff too…
I honestly don’t really care, because I wouldn’t have gone anyway, but it’s the principle of the fact that they would treat Europe to something that they wouldn’t treat to Raleigh, Charlotte or Atlanta. I’ll stick to my favorite Super-Group and you stick with yours.

it’s always possible that they’ll do some southern shows on the next tour, but i have a feeling that this supergroup thing will finally reveal how irrelevant all of them are, as if it wasn’t already obvious from mmj’s last album, m ward’s post-post-war recordings and work with that actress who is banging the dude from death cab, and the grown-up bright eyes. BUT if their irrelevance is actually revealed, i bet headliners might try to get them to play two years from now.
Parallelliott made me laugh…although I do love me some Jim James reverb.
