Hot Lava Monster is one of Columbia’s most recognizable bands. These guys have been doing their own thing for years and thankfully their own thing includes great rock tracks. Right now the boys are laying down those great rock tracks in California with Producer Sylvia Massey who has worked with such notables as Tool, System of a Down, and Rage Against the Machine. Guitarist Michael Schaming was nice enough to agree to provide us with some exclusive studio updates, so I’ll let him take it from here!
Day two in Weed (Editors note: that is a town in California, though I guess it could have a double meaning here) –
Waiting for the producer to arrive, we’ve pretty much have had free reign of the place. Lots of experimenting with amps and guitars, snares, and cymbals. The main studio is an old theater from the 20’s. The auditorium seats still intact and the stage is the recording area. It is an amazing place to be making a record.
On another topic, I think Patrick wants me dead. I found a dead rat on my pillow last night. It had a tag around it’s neck- it’s name was Michael.
Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I’m not sure I’ll make it back alive. I often hear Patrick mumbling to himself in his room. I’m instantly reminded of the ramblings of an insane old man, chuckling to himself in the dead of night. His mind unearthing some bizarre, warped plot he’s held deep inside for far too many years.
He rewrote the lyrics to one of our new songs today. And even though I didn’t like it, I smiled politely and told him they were great. Better to handle a time bomb with care.
Note: find way to secure room for sleep. I’m so tired. I just want to sleep without fear that I will never wake up.
