What is the worst part about a ponytail???? It is attached to an ass.
In 2009 we saw the ponytail era in Columbia come to a close. Some of Columbia’s finest in the music scene chopped them off in order to get down to business in 2010.
First off we have my cousin Bentz Kirby who not only cut off his ponytail, but had a ceremony at Art Bar to do it. In the picture above you will see his wife May, with his ponytail just after the chop. Bentz donated his ponytail to Pantene Beautiful Lengths for wigs for cancer patients.
Second biggest ponytail shock of the year was Magic John. We all know Magic John is the best soundman around, but at first we thought he would lose some of his power to make a turd sparkle with the cutting of his golden locks. To our luck and to the rest of the fans and bands in Columbia, Magic John is still doing an amazing job at making shitty bands sound average and good bands sound great.
He might have had the prettiest hair in Columbia. He is one of the best players in Columbia. The women swoon to his deep soulful bass lines. His name is Jimmy Gibson and he is the bass player for Austin Crane. He also chopped his hair off for a nice short do. We would have like to have seen a mullet for a day, but we don’t always get what we want.
Opting for something more low maintenance on the road, bass player of All Get Out Mike Rogers cut his locks earlier this year breaking womens hearts across America. Mike said “I didn’t recognize myself when I looked at my reflection for two weeks.”
Seen here on the right, Matt Fenech(thanks Bentz) shed his ponytail earlier this year. Not only does kick out the grooves for The Brisbones, but he also sings a mean Who song or two with my cousin Bentz at the Monterrey Pop Fest at Art Bar.
So long ponytail, you will be missed.
Hey now dude, Matt’s last name is Fenech!
Rock on cuz!
You missed one–John Satterfield from Woodwork Roadshow. He didn’t have a ponytail that I know of, but he chopped off his shoulder-length ‘do and now sports a pretty short one.
I barely recognized Magic when I came to work after the cut.
Thank you David, you flatter me.
What is that all over my hands? Mashed potatoes? Must have been a wild show.
