1) Tell us a little bit about your sound and how Parachute Musical came to be.
– Rockin’ roll man!!! We had some trials and tribulations… some movers and shakers came and left the band but we kept going. Moved to Nashville and I just kept going MAN! Ben, Tom and Andrew are my best friends in the entire world and where PM came from was FATE. The universe KNEW that we needed to hang out with each other ALL THE TIME so it slung us all through separate tornados and we ended up rocking each other’s socks off every night. BOOM SHAKA LAKA!!!
2) What are the best and worst parts about coming from the Nashville Music Scene?
– Lots of bands, lots of musicians… you play to a lot of people crossing their arms. No head nodding, no getting pumped… Just seems like your under a lot of scrutiny, which is cool! I thrive on being uncomfortable and trying to kick ass in those situations.
3) Tell us a little about the new single you just released and future plans for a new album.
– We just did two songs that we had been playing for a while because it was time to put out new material. We choose Drop Me A Line and No Comfort because they were our most poppin’ tunes that were ready to go at that time. The single was recorded by our really great friend Derek Garten. He’s awesome and can’t be beat, not even by a ninja. We’re going to record some more tunes with him this year… full length, EP… not sure yet.
4) Parachute Musical does a better job than most bands keeping in touch with their fans via social networking. Y’alls Tumblr is awesome. Just saying. That doesn’t count as a question.
Thanks… Tom does it. He’s really a killer internet guy. Allison Weiss, an Athens artist, has pimped our Myspace page and is workin’ up our web site. She kicks PM’s internet ass… so on top of her shit!
5) What have been the highlights of this tour so far? What have y’all been listening to in the van?
– Highlights = A boy named West / Contra by Vampire Weekend
6) If Parachute Musical could party with only one member of Sequoyah Prep School which one would it be?
7) Last summer you toured in extreme heat. This winter you toured in extreme cold. Which is worse?
– Cold
8 ) If a fan in a random city on your tour were to bring you a box of treatsies, what would be inside that box?
– A pack of Marlboro Lights (soft pack), a pack of Camel Lights, hand sanitizer, Emergen-C, Dr. Bronners Lavender Scent, fresh cucumber slices w/peanut butter cups on top, box of nectarines, Starbucks “Viva” instant coffee, a pack of Boca Burgers, Taco Bell Bucks, new fancy tooth brushes, some really fun trail mix (the kind with chocolate stuff mixed in), a new really cool CD to listen to and a hand written note stating the following: top ten albums of all time, full name, nick name, age, best show they’ve ever attended, favorite thing to do in the entire world.
