Over the past year, my interest in jazz music has grown into a long lasting relationship. In the past few weeks however, Duke Ellington has been the musician I have spent the majority of my time getting familiar with. He is very upbeat, yet laid back, and that is what I’m all about. He did amazing things with this 1959 album, along with the help of other well known and talented jazz musicians, but this particular song has me drawn to it.

I had a friend introduce The Dutchess and The Duke to me around May 2009 through the album She’s The Dutchess, He’s The Duke. I tend to listen to more lo-fi, folky music, and folk-punk is my favorite genre so I obviously & automatically loved the album. Melancholy or vengeful is the best way for me to characterize the bulk of their lyrics, but they are paired with upbeat melodies that make the album pleasant while you empathize. This song is from their newest album, Sunrise/Sunset, and is still slightly melancholy, but the sentiment is there a little more.
