we made it! with a gnarly wristband tan to boot.
we started our day early with lots of press, free brazilian meat and shiner bock. after i finished giving geography lessons to a few bands (south carolina is near west virgina …right?) we took over a fancy dining room and filmed a few acoustic sessions for your ears and eyes. then we hit the pavement, really really hard.
Trae from Death on Two Wheels covered something for us
The Gallery @ The Rusty Spurs
look for an interview with these Massachusetts transplants soon
McAlister Drive @ The Rusty Spurs
stumbled upon Atomic Tom @ The Rusty Spurs
and then discovered that they’re playing at the House in Five Points on April 6th with Civil Twilight
stopped by the Athens in Austin party
and caught a handful of bands, including J Roddy Waltston and The Business, as well as others.
finally made it to see Empires
a personal favorite of ours (Haley and Kat)
an interview with Tom from the band is on it’s way…
we did a lot of other stuff too, mainly involving shiner bock which seemed to be our sponsor of the day. we had amazing crepes and took about 17 buses and almost got stranded in east austin but we made it back. there’s still a lot of fun stuff i gathered from this week that should be popping up on this site soon.
Holy Cow, I was at the Athens party as well. Apparently we weren’t standing too far apart during Gentleman Jesse and His Men (who slayed). If you didn’t stick around for Futurebirds you missed out. I got into the Deervana show at Luster Pearl and it was badass. Fun fact, I saw Aziz Ansari at the Deerhunter show Friday.
I think Kathrine would have spotted a 53 year old 6’8 strapping white male like yourself Kurt.
I blended in, what with my cutoff jean shorts, vans, tank top and spacer earrings.
