It’s been a while since I’ve updated everyone on what I’ve been listening to this summer. It’s mostly been Bon Iver, Washed Out, Manchester Orchestra, Dawes and Madi Diaz. I’ve been wearing all of that out and I still find time to cram in everything else.
I’m going on opposite ends of the spectrum for these two summer jams.
Gillian Welch-The Way It Will Be
First off the new Gillian Welch, well, it’s amazing on first listen. I’ve honestly only listened through it 2 times, but this is one of my favorite songs so far. It’s called “The Way it Will Be” and is classic Gillian Welch. It’d be great to hear Ryan Adams sing this with her.
We get a lot of CD’s in the mail, I listen to almost all of them once. Not all the way through, but atleast a song or two. I find really good CD’s all of the time. I’m not going to be one of those people that say they are all crap, because the majority of what we get is actually good.
Last week I got a CD from the band The Deer Tracks who are from Sweden. They are putting out a 3 part album call The Archer Trilogy. What I got in the mail was PT.2, which is the full length to the 5 song EP Part 1. The album varies between delecate electronica, to harder beats with a soft mail and female vocals. Parts are poppy, parts are delicate, but it is mostly reminiscent of Regina Spektor and early Ben Gibbard electronic material. This is their song “Fa-Fire”, which is on the poppy side.
