After two years operating as Columbia’s top rehearsal facility The Mill will be closing it’s doors on August 24, 2011.
The Mill opened up right after the Sumter Street sheds were shut down to bands and bands were left looking for a place to practice. We did a little feature and inside tour of The Mill in January of last year and loved the atmosphere and all of the built in amenities. All of the bands that I’ve talked to that practiced their loved it, and we’ll all be sad to see it go.
The good news is that Jack Beasley will still be heavily involved in the music scene here through his company The Mill Music Inc. Jack does a weekly podcast with Woody Jones called The Weekly Monitor, along with booking, doing live sound and managing bands in Columbia.
