Thursday night New Brookland Tavern Columbia will be invaded by 4 bands, none of which claim Columbia as their home town. While technically that might be true, Columbia has really adopted three of these bands, so we’re like a second home to them.
Junior Astronomers just signed to Favorite Gentlemen records based out of Atlanta, and have a swarm of shows coming up this fall. One of those is supporting All Get Out for their album release September 24. Holy Shit y’all! We just said for the first time on SceneSC that AGO is officially releasing a full length and that Junior Astronomers signed to Favorite Gentlemen. Run and tell your Grandma, I know she’s a big fan of Nate and Terrence.
Today the Moon Tomorrow the Sun really started to become part of the Columbia crowd by playing at the Free Times Music Crawl last year. It’s one of the greatest events we have in the city and if you play it, you are really accepted into the cool crowd. The Atlanta based band play synth heavy rock and roll in the vein of The Killers. Melodic, repetitive, sway heavy, bass thickened rock n roll with female vocals. That’s pretty descriptive, so if you don’t like the synth, go out on the back porch and blow on your mouth organ.
Octopus Jones is set to headline and are still going hard on their latest release Treat Yourself. The recipe for ultimate enjoyment of an Octopus Jones set is a 6 PM joint, 3 PBR’s, 10 PM bong rip and two fireball shots. You’ll be feeling right and grinding up against every guy and girl in the crowd as Danny Martin lures the sex out of you with his sultry 80’s vocal stylings.
