Saturday November 5.
When: 7:10-7:40
Where: Kelly’s
How would you describe your sound to someone that has never heard your band?
Pinna is a groove-based rock band that plays a multitude of styles and relies on directional, informed improvisation to create a unique, of-the-moment musical experience.
or
Pinna doesn’t jam so much as it improvises, its tunes less garrulous flights of fancy and more headtrip-in-every-key excursions into rock’s left field, winding its way toward jazz fusion wormholes (Free-Times).
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Individually: Elvin Jones, Stanton Moore, Brian Blade (Brendan Bull, drums), Frank Zappa, Paul Simon, Pat Metheny (George Fetner, guitar), Bootsy Collins, James Jamerson, Mike Gordon (Cory Takach, bass). Collectively: Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Medeski Martin & Wood.
What other bands are you excited about seeing at Music Crawl?
We’ve got friends playing all over the map, all night. We’re exited more about playing at Kelly’s because it’s such a fun, rowdy place. It’s going to be hard to fit in everyone else we want to see.
What are you most excited about for the future of your band?
We’re most excited (in the short term) about our New Year’s Eve plans which will be made public very soon. In the long term, it’s always about making this more of a permanent job and working as hard as we have to to achieve that.
