It’s funny how the local music scene works. You can go years without hearing from someone and then one day their name pops up everywhere. It could be called The Baader Meinhof Phenomenon, but in this case I think Dylan Dickerson was his own reason for the coincidence.
After playing in the much respected band Old Canoe, Dickerson took off on his own in the latter half of 2011. The first time I caught him he was playing as a one man band, his 6 foot plus lanky frame set behind a kick drum and an electric guitar. His voice is gruff, yet soothing, well suited for his sense of melody. In the video for “No Protector” Dickerson Journey’s from a rebirth of sorts, weapon in tow, to only end with a question. What was he thinking?
