Tis’ the summer of the DIY music festival.
Music festivals run on small budgets with in kind sponsors are popping up all over, with some of the best ones here in our own back yard. After the wildly successful TreasureFest in Charlotte, Don’t Sweat it Fest will bring that same enthusiasm with a punk rock spirit to The Courtroom in Rock Hill.
The indoor/outdoor festival will kickoff at 3 PM with a dunking booth, face painting, a scavenger hunt, and an art booth. Music starts at 5 PM on the outdoor stage, moving inside as the sun sets on Rock Hill, with the night musical lineup starting at 9.
The music lineup is anchored by regional bands with a DIY indie spirit themselves. The Soap bring their catchy garage rock up highway 5 from Greenville, Hot Monarchy bring their thematic bedroom pop down 77 from Charlotte, while Fork and Spoon punk outfit Chemical Peel will make their way up 77 from Columbia. Bringing it all together will be Winthrop Alumnus and music scene vet Bo White, who will be playing solo while on hiatus from his band Yardwork.
Really bummed I missed this.
