Over the last two years we’ve been lucky enough to cover Sasquatch Music Festival, which takes place in the opposite corner of the country from us here in South Carolina. We hope to do the same this year after seeing the stacked lineups that now cover two major holiday weekends, Memorial Day and Fourth of July. This year it seemed like everyone announced their lineup at the same time, new festivals popping up all over the country with very similar lineups, including Shaky Knees which is right down the road in Atlanta. Sasquatch stepped up their game by announcing two stacked lineups that look forward to some newer band names that will shine later in the year.
As you can see from the pictures from years past, Sasquatch is the most scenic of all the summer fests as cars stream in from the Washington interstate to the gorge. Artist range from EDM to indie, and up-and-coming to veterans like Soundgarden and Outkast. That’s right, Outkast is playing opening weekend of this festival too joined by The National and Queens of the Stoneage. Our closest South Carolina connection comes with the performance of Washed Out, who are signed to Seattle label Sub Pop. That lineup now includes three SC natives along with frontman Ernest Greene, who spent time here inventing chillwave with Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bundick. I think that’s been written enough to now be the truth.
