Water Liars return to South Carolina Thursday night with a new album fresh off the presses in hand. The Mississippi based trio released their self titled follow-up to 2013’s Wyoming February 4 on Big Legal Mess/Fat Possum Records. Since the release of their debut album Phanton Limb the duo, now trio featuring GR Robinson on bass, has been spitting out quality albums yearly. The country punks found a new level of success with last years album Wyoming and look to spring off that with the new album. Now, I’ve heard it said once or twice that you self title an album when you think it’s the truest reflection of what you want your band to be. I’m not sure if most bands have heard that saying though after hearing some self titled albums out there, but from my listens to the new album so far, Water Liars can be proud of what’s in the mirror.
Elim Bolt have been keeping busy since the release of Nude South in late 2012 with the Dingy, Slimy, Scummy! EP and a new music video, but the time has come for a legit follow-up. That should be on the horizon as band leader Johnnie Matthews does not slow down when it comes to writing songs.
Columbia’s Sea Wolf Mutiny opens.
