This time last year, I awoke from a nap, stumbled down from my hotel room and found myself smack in the middle of Memphis trying to acquire some grub. I ended up with a rib meat sandwich (pretty sure that’s its government name) from Johnny G’s and a happy little walk around burning off calories listening to Lucero in my earphones.  The cigarette smoked-tinged lyrics will forever bring to mind those streets and it’s fitting considering Memphis is the hometown of the band.
If you’re like me, and you missed Lucero at Fall for Greenville, you probably need to find your way to the Handlebar this Thursday, March 20 for the show. Â Memphis’s favorite sons (as voted on by Mandy, Inc.) will bring their latest album Women & Work, as well as crowd favorites spanning their career, to the stage. Â If you did see them at Fall for Greenville, head on back for a second helping–it will leave you feeling more satisfied than a belly full of barbecue.
