Why Attend this Event?: New artist YG has surprising had the breakout Hip Hop album of the year and arguably the best album in 2014 thus far. His My Krazy Life LP is virtually flawless and has features from affiliate artists Kendrick Lamar, School Boy Q, and Drake. Not to mention every song is a banger so the live version surely won’t disappoint. DJ Mustard one of the masterminds behind YG’s debut album will be in attendance to ensure the night is a success. If you want a piece of Cali music right here in the south then you should checkout this show. Tickets are only $20.
Counter Point Music Festival April 25th-27th
Time: All Day Event
Location: Rome, Georgia (right outside of ATL)
Why Attend this Event?: The Counter Point Music Festival is one of the closest larger festivals to SC so it’s well worth the trip. Taking place right outside of Atlanta you’ll be able to see all of your Hip Hop favorites including: Rich Homie Quan, Chance The Rapper, and J. Cole. The best part? ATLiens OutKast will be headlining the event and closing out the festival on Sunday night. You can buy a three day pass for this event or a single day ticket. The entire lineup and performance times have already been released so get in where you fit in at the Counterpoint Music festival this weekend.
Sneaker Freak Swap Meet April 27th
Time: 12pm-5pm
Location: Columbia, SC
Why Attend this Event?: According to the events creators “Sneaker Freak Swap Meet is a festival celebrating urban fashion where enthusiasts are able to buy, sell, and trade shoes (sneakers), hats, other items of clothing & accessories and enjoy live entertainment. SFSM is a fun, family-friendly shopping experience for consumers of the Midlands area.” Not to mention one of our favorite local Hip Hop Acts The Force will be performing and DJ PuffSC will be on the 1’s and 2’s. They’ll also be giving out the SFSM Hypebeast awards. This event was previously featured on WLTX and is only up to $15 and even offers a discount for student admission. If you’re in the Columbia area this weekend head to the Embassy Suites on Stoneridge Drive for this event.
