Local comedy hero Rory Scovel is returning to South Carolina for a pair of shows in Greenville. Rory is a native of the upstate who first performed in Spartanburg, before moving on to Washington, DC and New York to develop his craft. His performances are filled with such dedication and spontaneous energy that now he has become one of the most respected comics working today. He can be regularly seen on the TBS show Ground Floor, whose second season premieres this fall. Earlier this year he recorded his first hour long standup special in Charleston, SC (which should be released later this year). Around that time he did a short Q & A with me:
Scovel will be performing two shows, tonight (Tuesday 6/17) and tomorrow (Wednesday 6/18) at 8pm at Coffee Underground. With it’s intimate, seventy-seat theatre, Coffee Underground has become a true home to comedy in Greenville. For years, No Expectations Comedy has run one of the best open mics in the state from this space, and Alchemy Comedy delivers improv and other comedy shows on the weekends. There have also been numerous touring pros like Rory who have dropped by. The show is free, so its seats will fill up quickly.
Tuesday 6/17 & Wednesday 6/18
