Earlier this year The Tarlatans announced their upcoming EP Good Luck by releasing the first single “Home Sounds Fine to Me” featuring the harmonica work of G Love. They’ll celebrate the release of the new album August 16 at one of Charleston’s finest venues Charleston Music Hall as part of a three day stretch they’re coining End of Summer Local Music / Art / Awesomeness Blow Out Extravaganza. The bill also includes one of Charleston’s best up-and-coming acts in Volcanoes in the Kitchen and veteran songwriterSteven Fiore, who will return home from Los Angeles for his first full band performance in over a year.
The Tarlatans new Jay Clifford produced EP is a mix of old and new, including their track “Been Dreamin'” which has received regional airplay along with the title track “Good Luck.” The latter was a hidden gem on the bands first album, and was handpicked by Clifford as a song to re-record. Clifford brought the track along with a slight rearrangement and an added string section that adds the dramatization that the song deserves. Since relocating from Clemson to Charleston, The Tarlatans have turned their focus to their music, opening for national acts such and Jars of Clay and The Wild Feathers and more recently touring to Arkansas to perform at Wakarusa Music Festival.
