Toro y Moi is one of our most anticipated album of the year after rumblings of a new album started in late 2014. So, what have we heard about the new album? We’ve heard there will be guitars on guitars on guitars–that’s compared to earlier material, not like a normal indie band. We’ve heard this trend is followed through on the entire album.
Toro y Moi’s follow-up to the 2013 album Anything in Return, is titled What For? and drops April 7 on Carpark Records. Expect a big tour with familiar faces and familiar cities. Some may call it a change stylistically, but it’s far from it. “Empty Nesters” could have fit in beside “Dead Pontoon” on June 2009, or even Leave Everywhere. It’s the new level for Bundick and a comfortable mix of his diverse styles.
