G. Love and Special Sauce performed at the Music Farm in Charleston, S.C. on March 22nd. Earlier that day, G. Love sat down with Stephen Pond inside the venue to speak about his role as a musician, his time spent at the X Games last year and his connection with basketball. The Philadelphia-based group released their first self-titled debut in ’94 and G. Love has recorded multiple solo albums, the first of which (The Hustle) was released on Jack Johnson’s label Brushfire Records. Their album Sugar, released last year, marks the first time in eight years that the original members have recorded together. Trina Calderon for Relix Magazine commented on how Sugar “started as an album about a breakup” but “transformed into something with a broader reflection for G. Love, as he spits his truth about struggle, love and a Mississippi-flavored jam called the Good Life.”
