SceneSC: What’s the first album you remember loving as a kid?
Hunter Park: A Lot About Livin’ (And a Little ’bout Love)– Alan Jackson: 3 words, Florida Road Trips. 12 more words: Mom had too much wine, we are in that weird alligator store.
What as the first album you bought with your own money?
HP: All Killer No Filler– Sum 41 You know exactly what I’m saying, like your shoulders are on fire because your backpack is too heavy and this quote… “You be standing on the corner talking all that kufuffin” Kufuffin everybody.
What was the first local band you were a fan of?
HP: The Fire Apes, my 7th grade math teacher was the lead singer. I went to the Music Farm for the first time that year to0.
What’s the most recent album you bought or have been listening to lately?
HP: Hermit’s Victory recently released an album I can’t get enough of. The songs are like emojis for the ears. There’s a bunch of stuff I’m looking forward to being released soon to. The new Brave Baby album is gonna slay. Every time I go see my friends and they bring out some new material I’m so excited especially when I know they’ve been working on recording it.
Tell me what you can about your upcoming album. I got to visit you in the studio when you were recording with Don Dixon and it sounded amazing.
HP: Aw, you so sweet. It’s close to the finish line. I’ve definitely taken some twists and turns, screamed/cried at a few red lights but it’s starting to feel good. It’s a lot of effort to juggle everyone’s schedules (even when you have expert help) when you want ALL THE PEOPLE to be involved in the record but it’s that *connection* that reminds me the beauty of the process will be reflected in the record. Whether it’s stumbling into Papa Jazz or the Jam Room after a night of bourbon and Chinese food, interrupting Marshall Hudson’s Game of Thrones date night stomping around with Johnny Delaware and Jordan Igoe, or bothering the hell out of Tea, Becca and Kyle (three of the busiest people you will ever meet) for design help, it’s all been really beautiful, I can’t wait to share it.
