A few months ago Sofar Sounds announced the opening of their Charleston chapter, where they put on intimate concerts, in beautifully curated settings. If you look through their videos they’ve done all types of artists, from local to national, all usually stripped down sonically to match the setting. For the video debut Charleston setup and performance on June 25, they chose She Returns from War and Very Hypnotic Soul Band (released after this was originally posted), a perfect match for the setting. Hunter Park has the innate ability to connect with a crowd, whether she’s performing full band or it’s just Park and a guitar. In this video Park performs her song “Thieves” joined by Grace Joyner and Camille Rhoden who lend harmony and backing vocals to the song. It’s the refrain that gets engrained in your head with only one listen, and is one of Park’s most powerful songs in her catalog to date. That could change soon, as a new album is in the works, one song of which you can hear on our 2017 Sampler.
The video for Thieves was filmed and edited by Gavin Shelton and recorded/mixed by Matt Tuton at  at the Harbor Entrepreneur Center on the upper peninsula.
