All Get Out hit the ol’ Southern circuit this weekend with shows at New Brookland Tavern on Friday the 14th and Swanson’s Warehouse in Greenville on Sunday the 16th. I spoke briefly with AGO frontman Nathan Hussey who said he wanted to hit a run of shows across the South (they’ll be in Atlanta and Nashville as well) with the full band before working on the next record that’s due out next year, along with a solo album.
Noteworthy: Opening act Flycatcher’s 2023 single was produced by well-known indie producer Will Yip out of Studio 4 in Philadelphia.
Local openers include Levvy and Hillmouse in Columbia and Easy Does It in Greenville.

In the news
- A song called “Tuesday” releasing on Wednesday from Toro y Moi? We’ll have to wait and find out.

- The USC School of Music has two new paintings of legendary guitarists Keith Richards and Jimi Hendrix, donated by alumnus H. Thorp Minister III and painted by German artist Sebastian Kruger.
- Carrie Underwood closed out the Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach on Sunday night, and instead of talking about her performance, which looked epic, tabloids like TMZ and the New York Post shared incredibly slow mo videos that appear to show her maybe slipping a bit on the stairs. The headlines however read, “Carrie Underwood brutally falls off the stage in the pouring rain at Carolina Country Music Fest.” Yikes.
- Shovels & Rope announced their new album, Something Is Working Up Above My Head, will be released on September 6th. Pre-orders are available now. The band will perform at the Music Farm on October 4th and 5th.

Historical Nugget
When Whiskeytown played the Elbow Room in Five Points in late 1997 it’s not hard to imagine what would become of the band led by Ryan Adams. Raucous in nature the band would soon dissolve and Adams solo career would take off soon after. More thoughts on this in a later newsletter maybe someday.
Thanks to friend of the pod, supporter, and Levvy frontman Jay Hendricks for sharing this story. Those shows always bring a smile to my face when I see them in the rearview.
