Beale St. Music Festival  Memphis, TN  May 4-6  $75  TICKETS
Somehow it is April already, and I guess that means summer is coming soon. This means that the summer music festivals have almost all released their massive lineups (with the exception of Lollapalooza’s April 11 announcement). Some would say that the official beginning of these festivals starts with Coachella in two weeks, but since I’m not going to that, the first festival this summer that I will be going to is Beale St. Music Festival in Memphis, TN.
Beale St. Music Festival is a part of Memphis in May which runs for the whole month of May and includes a World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and a Sunset Symphony. However, the kickoff event seems to be the highlight of this month-long festival. Beale St. Music Festival runs for three days, features 65 artists, and is only 75 dollars. I would absolutely say this is worth it. Just to see Florence + The Machine, Dr. Dog, and The Head and the Heart all in one place is even worth $75 to me. Truth be told, I probably do not know half of the artists on the lineup, but the half that I do know are pretty impressive.
You’ve got Childish Gambino, Lupe Fiasco, and Michael Franti & Spearhead. These are all artists who you know have got to put on a brilliant live show. Also, The Civil Wars are playing. I have wanted to see them for ages but pretty much every show on their tour last year was sold out, so I was not able to. I’m ridiculously excited to see them. ALSO, Al Green and Buddy Guy are going to be there. That’s got to be something pretty incredible. Â The festival is held in a beautiful 25 acre riverfront part at the foot of historic Beale Street overlooking the Mississippi River. I’ve never been to Memphis but I’ve heard great things.

I will be writing about other festivals this summer including Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza. Check back!
