For a music website to be doing acoustic sessions might seem like a really common sense thing. When we started SceneSC in 2008 we knew were going to have plenty of live video and pictures. Even then we were thinking ahead and wanted a way for people down the road to be able to look back at our music scene starting in 2008. The only way to do that has been Free Times, but we wanted to be more interactive.
What made everything click for the acoustic sessions for the very first time was watching these Pink Couch Sessions. They are more than acoustic sessions. What I found was a level of trust with If You Make It that I was going to like the person playing. It was a lot of bands and people I hadn’t heard of yet, but would come to love. Bands like Bridge and Tunnel, Lemuria, Laura Stevenson, and the list goes on and on.
In the coming months we’re going to unveil a new style of acoustic session unlike any we’ve ever done. We’re going to rival the best stuff you can find anywhere on the internet. We’re going to take the best parts of what everyone else is doing and we’re going to make it ours. We’re going to take a snapshot of the best music that is going on in South Carolina now, and in 5 years people are going to look back and say “Wow, the music scene was so much better then.” It’s all perspective you guys.
Here are two of my favorite Pink Couch Sessions. Thanks for inspiring me IYMI.
