I’ve decided to start reviewing Local albums and posting the reviews here for ya’ll!
Here’s my first:
Andy Lehman – Landline
Genre: Alternative
RIYL: G-Vegas, Weezer
Favorite Tracks: I Don’t Think of Love (The Way That I Used To), Time to Go, Stop, Winter, Ghost
This album was released in 2007; however, I just got my hands on it about a month ago. It’s pretty good alternative pop. The poppiest song may be “Stop”, which reminds me alot of Weezer. At the end of the track Andy remarks, “That was awesome!”. I fully agree with that. His next show is December 13 at the Channel in Greenville. If you’re around that area, the show starts at 8pm, and I would highly suggest that you go check him out, because he’s also really good live. His live act is actually what brought me to ask for this album. The track Summertime is a nice duet with a female guest vocalist. It moves at a pretty moderately chill pace, much like the summer. It also includes a well placed piano part. The first track, “I Don’t Think of Love…” includes a male guest vocalist with a lower voice which leads to Lehman showcasing his lower range also, which is as impressive as his higher range.
This is a solid record. I suggest you go get it. Listen to it. Play it for others. Spread it around. Request it at WUSC 90.5 FM. Go to his shows.
Also, I hear he’s working on a new album. You can be sure that it will be great as well.
