With their new album A Church That Fits Our Needs, Chapel Hill based band Lost in The Trees have taken on some heavy subject matter. Front-man Ari Picker wrote a thematic and emotional album dedicated to his mother who took her own life, and as a further tribute placed her photo on the cover. The album, which is delicately built with swells of strings, is both beautiful and at times haunting, transcending moods from track to track.
Listening to the new album, it sounds like it would be difficult to perform live. Difficult not only instrumentation wise, but performing music that falls so close to heart. With 6 members, Lost in The Trees pull together and capture the perfect melancholy of their latest album live.
