The secret of Shovels and Rope is out. All thanks to The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Garden and Gun, and countless other mainstream media outlets, Shovels and Rope have become critics darlings.
They’ll be releasing their critically acclaimed album O’ Be Joyful to their hometown crowd this Saturday at The Charleston Pour House.
Did y’all know they are married and live out of their van on the road???
We also recommend going to back to The Pour House the following day for an evening full of live music.
Sunday’s show for the Stereofly Collective will be the fourth one in four days, as the blog hosts shows in Athens, Greenville, and Columbia as part of their Southeast Showcase. Each show features 12-15 bands with emphasis on local talent. Atlanta party rockers Baby Baby and host band Shallow Palace play each towns Showcase.
The Greenville showcase is being cosponsored by music blog We Are The Upstate, who after one year are still going strong and have big plans for the future. Both WATU and Stereofly represent a new generation of local media support that SC websites have been unable to maintain over the years. It’s independent sites like these that keep breathing fresh air into music scenes.
