Recorded in the wet heat of the Columbia summer, the new tracks from Dead Surf’s upcoming album “Summer Never Was” have slowly started to trickle out.
The three new tracks released so far offer up a more focused sound as the band recently celebrated their one year bandiversary. Caught somewhere between Kevin Arnold’s band The Electric Shoe’s and Marty McFly’s performance of “Earth Angel” with Marvin Berry & the Starlighters at the 1955 Enchantment Under the Sea dance at Hill Valley High, Dead Surf’s new songs dig deeper than the average summer love affair. Over the last year the male/female vocal dynamics have slowly melted together, and as fall rolls around, these songs will have you dreaming of those warm summer nights with each shimmering whammied chord.
