Preorder Leave What We Had Behind
For most people your early twenties are a time for exploring, heartbreak, and finding what you want and don’t want in a relationship. With “You Chose”, the first single off Paul Brazell’s upcoming solo release Leave What We Had Behind, Brazell touches on these coming of age emotions with triumphant builds and the melancholy of a recent relationship. With the new album – a collection of songs Brazell wrote about relationships over the past two years – Brazell moved some of the recording from his home studio to Archer Avenue Studio where he mixed most of the new record with Kenny McWilliams with the exception of one song mixed with Christian Sawyer in Los Angeles. The result is Brazell’s most dynamic and polished recordings to date.
Credit not only Brazell’s maturation as a songwriter, but also time spent playing in other projects like The Lion in Winter, Yosef, and Mel Washington’s live band.
“Just being surrounded by great musicians is also a good influence too,” says Brazell. “It makes me want to impress them the way they impress me.”
Brazell is joined on the record by Seth Ely on drums, Kell Donald on bass, and will be joined at the release party by Connor Hinson on lead guitar. For the release of Leave What We Had Behind Brazell and company will share the stage with 3 fine bands from the Carolinas including Heyrocco and Elim Bolt from Charleston, and Charlotte’s Flagship.
Brazell is in good company with this lineup, all bands making a name for themselves well outside the borders of their home states.
Paul Brazell album release show is Thursday September 26, 2013 at New Brookland Tavern with Elim Bolt, Heyrocco, and Flagship.
