For the last couple of years we’ve heard how vinyl is back, but many remained skeptical on how long it would last. Now it seems that skeptics have been quieted by further increasing numbers in the vinyl sales department. Digital Music News reports with data from Nielsen Soundscan that vinyl sales are up another 27.9 percent in 2013, making it the 7th year in a row that vinyl sales have seen a boost.
Charleston Record Expo returns to the West Ashley Shoppes Saturday September 21 bringing vinyl record dealers from all over the southeast together to sell a variety of albums, 7 inch singles, and music paraphernalia. The event will take place outside of World Market, just doors down from Charleston, SC’s première record store Monster Music and Movies. The records include a wide array of genres with prices ranging from $1 to $100 or more. Interested in having your own records appraised? There will be experts on site ready to appraise any of those rare records you have in your collection.
It’s sometimes heartbreaking to throw away scratched or warped vinyl. Allison Merrick of SpaceCraft Studios of Charleston will be at Monster Music in Charleston with a solution to the problem, teaching a class on how to fashion those old records into bowls. If you don’t bring your own, records will be supplied. Suggested donations will be collected and donated to Girls Rock Charleston.
Following the Merrick’s class from 11-2 PM will be live music from Papa Robbie’s Reggae All Stars at Monster Music.
Refueler’s Mobile Café food truck will be on site service up delicious Filipino fusion.
