The Upstate music scene has come a long way in the past five years with a growing sense of community in an area filled with talented bands and musicians. The inaugural Hey Look! Music Festival brings 14 of Greenville’s most prominent folk and rock bands together for a day of celebration of that sense of community.
What started as Greenville Indie Fest was rebranded this year with a sense of purpose in showcasing not only independent local music, but also local merchants, visual and interactive artists, food vendors and more. Thomas Creek Brewery is not only hosting the event, but providing staging, facilities, and their seasonal beers. Guitar Center of Greenville is handling the staging and lighting, with additional community support from Redhype, X98.5 FM, WPBR Radio Room Greenville, and us here at SceneSC.com.
The 14 band lineup keeps the focus on original alternative music, staying away from the cover band scene that thrives in the downtown area. Music ranges from the soulful jam rock of headliners L.O.Z. to the inventive folk rock of Wasted Wine. We’ll go more in depth with each band leading up to the festival, but for now you can give each band a listen below.
