If you’re a fan of South Carolina Hip Hop you know there are constantly Hip Hop events happening around the state so we’re here to keep you in the loop about all of the ones worth attending here in South Carolina. As SceneSC.com strives to expand its Hip Hop coverage (How are you liking the new section? Suggestions are welcomed!) We’ll be posting events for the week that you might want to attend. Here is the first installment.
Benedict College B.E.T. Awards- April 10th
Time: Door open at 6pm the event begins at 7pm
Location: Benedict College HRC Arena
Why Attend this Event? : The Benedict College B.E.T. Awards is more than just a student activities event. Just like television award shows the event has a red carpet for the local stars and features guest performances and appearances from local and national artists. This year’s show features a special performance from R&B up and comer Sebastian Mikael known for his single “Last Night” featuring Wale. You can also catch Hip Hop artist Jody Breeze, and local favorite Spiff Kidz. This is event is only $2 with a student I.D. and $5 for general admission. If you’re looking for something to do on a budget that’s still worth your time head downtown to the HRC Arena and enjoy the show.
Sneaker Feet First “Court Yard Sessions” – April 12th
Time: 6-10pm
Location: Charleston, SC
Why Attend this Event? : If you’re in the low country or happen to be passing through Charleston this weekend make sure to stop by Sneaker Feet First and checkout their “Court Yard Sessions” this is turning into a popular event among South Carolina artists and is the perfect event if you’re feeling a bit more laid back. Purchase apparel from local venders at the pop up shop while listening to some of your favorite artists. This installment includes performances from A —Butta, PGE, Spidey Tha God, Jamal, and many more. An added bonus, the first ten people to arrive will receive a special item.
Love, Peace, and Hip Hop Festival — April 12th
Time: 11am-5pm
Location: Main Street Downtown Columbia
Why Attend this Event? : The Love, Peace, and Hip Hop Festival is the first event listed on our 6 Festivals Hip Hop fans Should Attend List so this is more so a reminder. As I previously mentioned this is a free event and the headliner for this year’s festival is Hip Hop legend Slick Rick The Ruler. This is a family friendly event that also showcases visual artists, break dancers and Dj’s get into the culture this Saturday.
