The Felice Brothers play Drumstrong Music Festival Saturday May 17 in Charlotte and May 18 at Charleston Pourhouse
On the heels of their new album Favorite Waitress due out on Dualtone Records June 17 in the states, upstate New York folk rockers The Felice Brothers have been out on the road playing shows stirring up their fan base. The new album is their first proper studio album tracked outside of their home state, recorded in Omaha, Nebraska at Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst’s Arc Studios — The Felice Brothers toured with Bright Eyes in 2007. Known for raucous live shows the band considers the new album as one that captures that live sound better than any other. Favorite Waitress is the follow-up to their 2011 album Celebration, Florida, an album where they bucked the label of a folk band. With the new album they’ve returned to those roots a bit with contributions from members James Felice and Christmas Clapton in addition to primary songwriter Ian Felice.
After their dates at Drumstrong Music Festival in Charlotte on Saturday and at Charleston Pourhouse on Sunday, The Felice Brothers head overseas for a run of UK dates before returning for a full US tour and then a return to the UK. We caught the band earlier this year at SXSW with Chevy flashing wristbands everywhere. It was distracting, but a lot at SXSW can be distracting. Even still, it was a fantastic live show.
