Columbia young rockers fk mt (pronounced F M) dropped a scuzzy two song release over the weekend titled Solivagant in Spring. A chugging seven minutes in whole, the two song release is power chord driven, hook laden, and full of self deprecation.
“You probably hate me, I hate myself too” sings frontman Ryan Morris on opening track “Keep Myself Away from Me”. I don’t believe him, but it does come off as a release. A way to blow off some steam. The second track “I Can’t Surf :(” is more furious with an alternating up-and-down chord progression that pounds for two and half minutes. Morris sings “You don’t even know me” on repeat for the chorus before the song scatters and repeats verse to chorus again. Both tracks are ones the band has been playing live over the past few months, having opened shows for national touring acts Of Montreal, and The Front Bottoms, playing many a house show and small venue show in between. Both songs were recorded by Roger Caughman at Fk Mt hq. The band has hopes for a full length album out this Fall.
