Hey y’all.
We get college football back this week, but until then, here are some things for your eyes and ears to enjoy. And as always, Go Tigers!
Middle Of America – Will Hoge
C’mon, I’m in Nashville. I gotta give ya some Country Music suggestions. Real Country Music that is. Will is no stranger to South Carolina. I’ve seen him numerous times in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, etc. I’ve definitely seen him encore at the Music Farm a few times, with just a guitar and his incredible voice… a force to be reckoned with.ĆĀ He’s had a few cuts on some “bigger” records… Eli Young Band took his incredible “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” all the way to #1…. and Lady Antebellum cut “Better Off (Now That You’re Gone)” for their last release. Will’s song “Strong” was featured in the Chevy commercial. I guarantee you’ve heard it.
While he’s thankful for the success (and the new truck), he’s still doing what he loves to do… write great songs. “Middle Of America” is his latest release, off a forthcoming album. And yes, you’d totally hear this on 96 Wave… may they rest in peace.
St. Paul & The Broken Bones (Take Away Show)
If you’re not already in love with St. Paul & The Broken Bones… then I’m sorry. But please catch up with the rest of the class. Also, if you’re not familiar with La Blogotheque’s “Take Away Shows” then please block off at leastĆĀ 2-3 hours to fall down that wormhole. (May I recommend starting with Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, and Bon Iver’s sessions).
Paul Janeway and Co recently filmed 2 songs for their recent “Take Away Show” and they can be viewed here. If their cover of Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” doesn’t bring you to tears, then you have less of a heart than me. Which is a feat.
Next To Me – Emile Sande
This song came out about 2 years ago, but has been on constant rotation in my life recently. No real reason either, as I am possibly the busiest lonely person you’ll ever meet.

Bourbon & Boots
I debated even posting about this site, because I feel like it’s my secret weapon. I guess I’ve got to tell the world now, so please enjoy. Bourbon and Boots is like the Southern Etsy… but better quality. Do you need 40 Caliber bullet earrings? Or Mason Jars with your Team Logo on them? Maybe a nice print with a sassy, Southern saying? A metal beer bucket for all your tailgating this fall? They’ve got you. (once again, no pyramid scheme or payola here — I’m just reppin’ stuff I like). Let me know if you find anything cool!
