Don’t feel like traveling to Austin, TX for SXSW? Go to Savannah Stopover Music Festival instead.
Since their inaugural festival in 2011, Savannah Stopover has become a regular tour stop for bands en route to SXSW. The initial announcement sheds light on indie bands that look to have a big year in 2015.
Now in their 5th year, this years festival features an initial lineup with strong up-and-coming bands like Diarrhea Planet, San Fermin, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires and really….you can say that about all the bands listed here. Just like SXSW is a festival for discovery of new acts, Savannah Stopover works in much the same, hosting artists looking to rise above the mix. The next round of announcements are sure to feature a bigger national name or two, along with more local acts. The final round of announcements are scheduled for January 16, bringing the total number of bands playing to about 80 in all.
Savannah Stopover takes place in historic downtown Savannah, GA on one of the first weekends that it’s actually warm enough to be outside and enjoy it. Early bird three-day passes for the fest are available at ticketfly.com for $65. Get em’ early because that’s a steal.
