Well ladies and gentleman, this week’s Diagnosis will feature Joywave–my final featured artist as my time at WUSC nears its end.
Joywave are an indie electro band from Rochester, NY, most known commercially for their collaboration with Big Data on hit “Dangerous.” Their full-length debut How Do You Feel Now? is due out April 21, but is available for streaming now.
How Do You Feel Now? is, simply put, cool as hell. Joywave has perfected the mass-appeal formula–catchy for the popular kids, quirky for the nerds, intense for the jocks, danceable for the art kids and lyrically-mature for the principal. A spring release of How Do You Feel Now? has set it up for some potential summertime hits (re: “Somebody New” “Now” “Tongues” “Nice House.”) I’m sure we’ll be hearing the name Joywave quite a bit in the future.
Tune in Thursday 6 p.m.m-8 p.m. to hear Joywave and other artists on 90.5 FM or wusc.sc.edu. Next week’s Diagnosis will explore some of the middle and lower tier Bonnaroo artists. April 30 will be the last Diagnosis EVER and will explore some of my favorite discoveries in my entire time at WUSC.
Catch Joywave live at New Brookland Tavern Thursday May 14.ÂÂ
