What’s the first album you remember loving as a kid?
Madison-The first album I remember loving as a kid was probably Bringing Down the Horse by the Wallflowers. My parents were really into music when I was a kid, they always had great music playing in the house. I grew up to the Eagles, Counting Crows and a lot of really melodic rock like that.
Andrew-My dad would play Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue constantly.
Adam-It’s super embarrassing but I always loved Aaron Carter as a kid and always had the album Aaron’s Party in my portable CD player.
What as the first album you bought with your own money?
Madison-The first album I bought with my own money was actually The Fame by Lady Gaga. I was in the 7th grade. But as far as pop punk, I bought every all time low album I could get my hands on on the Internet. I collect CDs though, so if I like your band, I own your CD.
Adam-The first album I bought with my own money was Brand New’s Deja Entendu. It has stayed one of my favorites ever since.
Andrew-Green Day’s American Idiot in 2005. I was probably 13.
What was the first local band you were a fan of?
Madison-The first local band I was a fan of was Brave Baby. One of my good friend’s brother is in the band so we were always around for them.
Adam-This band that played a lot in my high school, the Kill Anties. They were so popular with everyone around and it was this really unique sound. They ended up splitting but the singer continued with his own project that has turned out well.
Andrew-My first experience with local music in Columbia was seeing either Ritual Abjects or Daddy Lion.
What’s the most recent album you bought or have been listening to lately?
Madison-The most recent album I have bought was probably my Deja Entendu Brand New vinyl on record store day. It completed my collection of all of their vinyls. But I’ve been listening to a whole lot of Sorority Noise lately. And I bought the new Man Overboard album as well.
Adam-The most recent album I’ve bought is the Tell All Your Friends vinyl. Recently I’ve been mainly listening to a lot of Neck Deep and Real Friends though.
Andrew-I’ve been obsessed with The Mountain Goats’ Beat the Champ since it came out this year.
Tell me about your new album recorded at the Jam Room and about your plans for future releases.
Madison-Working with Jam Room was amazing. They really saw our vision and what we wanted to accomplish with the album whether it was channeling Jordan, or just fun ideas, they were up for anything. As far as in the future, we are already playing a new song at our show on Saturday, but we are always writing and coming up with new ideas.
Andrew-This was a huge learning experience for us. We had the space and the experienced help to really flesh these songs out and I think we’ve managed to honor Jordan’s vision. We hope to put out a small collection of new material within the next year.
Adam-The album Cheers that we recorded at Jam Room was so much fun to make. It was my first recording experience and I loved it. Everyone there was super nice and helpful through the process. We’ve actually just turned the last song from the album into a full band song for our show on the 25th, so that’s going to be cool.
