See fk mt Friday Sept 25 with Jackson Spells and come to the Woozy show Oct 4 at New Brookland TavernÂ
What’s the first album you remember loving as a kid?
Ryan Morris: I have always been all over the place with music. It’s hard to remember but I did have Ricky Martins “Livin la Vida Loca” single when I was like 5 or 6 years old. I remember getting it thinking it was a whole cd and being disappointed that it was only one song. But it was cool cause it had the English and Spanish versions on it. I also liked James Taylor a lot growing up.
What was the first album you bought with your own money?
RM: The first cd I ever bought with my own money was either Simple Plan’s No Pads No Helmets… Or ughhh Crazy Town. But I remember getting Nirvana’s Nevermind for Christmas in fifth grade and I played the hell out of it on my play station. It was cool because you could play a cd and watch the visualizer on the tv through the play station.
What was the first local band you were a fan of?Â
RM: THE DECADE. And I was their number one fan and will fight anyone who says otherwise. I changed my name on MySpace to “THE DECADE ROCKS(whatever their MySpace url was) but I remember seeing them at this thing called Rockfest in Newberry, SC and I thought they were the coolest band I’ve ever seen(really the only band I had ever seen that didn’t have dads in it) and I went to see them at New Brookland and that was the first time I ever went there.
What’s the most recent album you bought or have been listening to lately?
RM: This is a pretty tough question. The latest album I bought was an Unwound boxed set. Unwound is this really rad band that Ony told me about that I haven’t been able to stop listening to ever since. Some really great albums that I have been listening to that came out this year are: Enslaved-In Times, Turnover-Peripheral Vision, Failure-The Heart is a Monster, Swervedriver-I wasn’t Born to Lose You, Nai Harvest-Hairball/Hold Open My Head, Cloakroom-Further Out and I could go on and on. Music is the only thing I don’t dislike.
Over the last two years you’ve recorded a couple of excellent EPs and have one more on the way. Do you think you’ll record a full length at some point or just keep pumping these out?
RM: We definitely want to put a full length out its just very expensive. We could put out a full length on our own but wouldn’t be able to pay to get it pressed by ourselves. We’re just waiting for the right moment. It doesn’t make sense to me to put out a full length record if nobody knows who we are.
