What’s the first album you remember loving as a kid?
GJ: I remember the first album that really impacted me was Grace, Jeff Buckley. I asked for it for Christmas when I was 14. He was the first artist that made me really inspired to play music myself.
What as the first album you bought with your own money?
GJ: I’m not 100% positive but I’m pretty sure it was an Elton John Album. I had this phase from like 10-14 where I was super into him. My mom took me to see him live for my birthday when I was 14. It was an amazing show il never forget.
What was the first local band you were a fan of?
GJ: Well for this one I would have to say Brave Baby, at the time Wylie. I became friends with all the boys my freshman year of college when I was super new to charleston so they were the first local band I was exposed to. I sang with them on a couple shows and they introduced me to a lot of other musicians I ended up collaborating with as well.
What’s the most recent album you bought or have been listening to lately?
GJ: I bought The Stranger, Billy Joel when I was in Papa Jazz last time haha. It’s been in my CD player since. Love that album. Classic.
What’s the plan for your new album and are you happy with it so far?
GJ: We are sooo close to being done. Right now we are just trying to decide if we should record one more song or not. This album has honestly just been such a different experience from the last EP. I never performed my own music when I recorded our first EP so it was really experimental for me. This go round I have a much better understanding of the direction I want to go in and a clearer vision of how to get there. Me and Wolfgang are collaborating a lot more on this album and I have more skills as far as instrumentation then I did for the EP. I have high hopes for an early 2016 release. Super excited to put it out there and see how it is received.
