Ghosts of the Kodiak play New Brookland Tavern Saturday May 7.Â
Ghosts of the Kodiak thrive on dynamics and the textural layering of their music, so when we asked them to perform a couple of songs stripped down we knew they’d have something great in store. From the use of the pump organ, to the piano, the band delievered two emotionally catching performances of songs off their 2016 EP Terrestrials. Their versatiliy is shown on Terrestrials with two acoustic songs included as bonus tracks contrasting with their more aggressive original versions. With “Vice’s” they slowed things down, but only to a leisurely pace, a pace that’s easier to absorb.
We caught up with Ghosts of the Kodiak at Archer Avenue Studio in Columbia, SC after they finished their excellent version of The Postal Service’s “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight”, their contribution on the Rock with You EP in support of the 2016 Archer Avenue Showcase.
