ET Anderson//Tom Angst//Daddy’s Beemer
A couple of years ago ET Anderson burst onto the music scene after frontman Wilson W. Wilson moved back to Columbia, SC after spending time in Raleigh, NC with pysch rock outfit Octopus Jones. When he returned he started where he left off with his previous band Calculator, but this time with a better idea on what he wanted. ET Anderson blazed stages, playing aggressive live shows that built tension and then exploded, and also went against the laid back nature of their released recordings. On this bill ET Anderson join two of South Carolina’s best new indie bands in Tom Angst and Daddy’s Beemer.
April 6-8Â 2017 SpringSkunk Music Fest
North of Greer, SC in the foothills of the Appalachian’s the Ziegler’s host a couple of festivals each year along with other events around town. They’re all spinoffs of their successful Albino Skunk Festival which happens in October. It was so popular that the Spring Skunkfest was an easy spinoff. Over the years they’ve hosted bands we love like The Everybodyfields, The Avett Brothers, and Trampled by Turtles, and this year the lineup proves to be filled with great acts again with Forlorn Strangers, Alexa Rose, and plenty more.
Friday April 7 at The Radio Room
Beach Bug//The Jam Jams//Primal Static
There’s something endearing about Beach Bug’s classic bedroom recordings on his new EP Beach//Bug. The recordings are crisp and clean though tagged as lo-fi on Bandcamp, they avoid the classic tape hiss and low hum of classic bedroom recordings and demos. The six songs on this new EP are all self-reflective with personal titles like “Kevin’s Birthday” and “Emily: the 2nd Hottest Girl in Mrs. Smith Class”, but where the album really thrives on early listens is in the simple but effective guitar work on “The Nest” and “Hook the Fish”. They’ll celebrate the release of the new EP Friday at The Radio Room.

I just want to link this article here and this video above to explain the importance of this show. I got a little emotional when Free Times interviewed me and we talked about Aaron Graves.

Music by Release The Dog & Alarm Drum both playing sets on Hampton Street Stage
Now that the rain is gone and only left wind in its aftermath, we’ll get to enjoy a breezy evening with Alarm Drum and Release the Dog outside at first Thursday. Both bands pull from 90’s indie rock in a lot of ways, but from different styles, though those styles go hand in hand. Release the Dog call for Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. comparisons and Alarm Drum for My Bloody Valentine, especially when they cover “When You Sleep”.
